TrailReady
Pick a trail and get the gear list and pack weight for that exact trip.
The brief
People new to trekking pack from generic lists that know nothing about the trail: how high it climbs, which months it rains, whether it needs a permit or a guide. That information is scattered across park notices, travel sites and forums, and often contradicts itself. The brief was to put it in one place, so that choosing a trail tells you what to bring, without inventing a single number. Where there is no source yet, the page says so.
Approach
TrailReady starts from the trails: 139 in Thailand and 75 in 32 other countries, each with its distance, elevation, best months, permits and park notices. Every researched number cites the page it came from, and the system fetches that page again to confirm the quote or the figure is really there before keeping it. Route lines come from OpenStreetMap; distance, ascent and the elevation profile are computed from terrain data and shown on a 3D map. The Trip Builder asks only for a trail, a month and the number of days, then builds the gear list and the pack weight, split into what is packed, what is eaten and what is worn. Anything without a known weight is counted separately and the total is marked incomplete. The gear pages compare products against the criteria that fit the trip, and commission never enters the ranking. Members save their trips and their own gear lists. Behind it is a back office for trails, articles, products and members, and the team can also edit trail pages and write articles straight from the site. It is all Astro and React on Cloudflare Workers.
Results
TrailReady is live at trail-ready.app in Thai and English, with 214 trails to choose from. The team adds trails, writes articles and lists gear themselves from the back office.
