A phygital art trail through Ratchaburi’s old town, with a stamp passport in your phone.
The brief
Ratchaburi’s old town is full of places that carry more than they show: a morning market that has kept the same rhythm for decades, a shrine wedged between two shophouses, a dragon-jar kiln still firing. Art Buri puts an artwork at each of them and gives people a reason to walk the whole route. The brief was to make that walk worth remembering without anyone installing an app, in Thai and English, and to let the curators run the trail themselves.
Approach
Everything is designed for the phone already in the walker’s hand. Open the site, scan the QR plaque beside an artwork, and a stamp lands in a digital passport. The code is decoded in the browser, so the camera frame never leaves the device, and each check-in is measured against the artwork’s real coordinates: a scan from too far away earns nothing. Every five stamps unlock a wallpaper, and a short quiz pairs each walker with a ceramic character for the journey. Behind it sits a CMS the curators run themselves: map pins, artwork stories, photos and audio, printable QR sheets, and a live view of where people actually stop. The public site and the CMS are two Cloudflare Workers sharing one database, so a change to the site can never take the CMS down. Thai is the source; English is translated during development, never by a machine at runtime.
Results
Art Buri is live at artburith.com in Thai and English. The curators add stops and artworks, print QR sheets and watch check-ins live from their own CMS.
